Never Get Used Up
Albert Schweitzer once wrote, "The great secret of success is to go through life as a man who never gets used up." Quoted in Schweitzer by George Marshall and David Poling (New York: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1971), p. 298;
What will save a person from getting all used up in day-to-day living? One thing will surely do it—spiritual understanding. Nothing else will bring the physical, mental, and spiritual renewal one must have for a happy, fruitful life.
Mortal mind, or the belief of life apart from divine Spirit, maintains that from the day one comes upon the material scene he begins to move toward the point where his life will be all used up. But in truth man does not emerge into mortal, finite being. Consequently, he does not gradually decline until obliterated. Mrs. Eddy writes, "Science reveals the glorious possibilities of immortal man, forever unlimited by the mortal senses." Science and Health, p. 288; What a relief to know this! What a challenge to demonstrate it!
