In 1926, I had a heart and blood pressure condition which the doctors treated with medicine and injections. After about two years of this kind of treatment the time arrived when I found it was impossible to perform a normal day's work.

I had heard of Christian Science years before and remembered seeing a book on it—Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy—in a friend's home. I purchased a copy. At that time I knew nothing of churches and Reading Rooms. I soon learned about them and that there were Christian Science practitioners. The book satisfied me in many ways, and I sought treatment from a practitioner. I attended church services, and through the continued help of the practitioner I went back to my work. Many healings came, and my love of Christian Science grew.

One of the first Bible references the practitioner called to my attention was: "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness" (Isa. 41:10). I soon reached a point when I desired to rely wholly on Christian Science for healing. I had to part company with my work as a pharmacist. It was not until 1936 that my desire for other work was fulfilled. As a result of the spiritual outlook that insures progress in Christian Science, I had grown steadily in health and was completely free of the heart and blood pressure condition.
