The How of Forgiving
Forgiveness blesses the one who expresses it, as well as those he forgives, because forgiveness exalts good in one's consciousness.
In our endeavor to express forgiveness we may be tested. When we are faced with injustice, neglect, unkindness, or some other form of mistreatment, material sense may urge that the indulgence of resentment, revenge, or self-pity is justified under the circumstances.
One who is spiritually alert rejects this feeling as invalid. He is aware that to acknowledge God's allness, have a good conscience, and be happy, he must forgive others their trespasses and return good for evil, regardless of how others treat him.
