Release from Materiality Brings Freedom
The study and application of Christian Science shows us how to release our thought from material beliefs about life and accept the freedom of spiritual understanding. We experience this freedom when our thought is cleared of the self-imposed restrictions inherent in a material concept of God, man, and the universe. Then we glimpse the unreality of mortal existence and replace the mistaken belief in its reality with the true spiritual view of creation.
God saw His creation as "very good," Gen. 1:31; and His view is the true view of creation. God, infinite Spirit, is the only creator; therefore the only creation must be like Him, spiritual and good. To know this truth is not merely to hope for good. It is to move ahead confident of God's allness and goodness and His ever-present guidance. Christ Jesus said, "No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God." Luke 9:62;
A young businessman, a student of Christian Science, had worked in close association with the manager of his department for nearly three years, and there was a cordial relationship between the two men. Under the manager's tutelage, the young man developed in ability and competence and learned to deal with associates and customers pleasantly and successfully.
