Smoothing Relationships Through the Science of Man

Psychology, political science, sociology, have the high aim of making human relationships more productive. But, according to Christian Science, systems that deal with man as a mortal personality are limited by their mistaken premises and are therefore limited in their application to relational situations. The Science of man deals with fundamental divine Truth and improves relating.

"The great element of reform," Mary Baker Eddy emphasizes, "is not born of human wisdom; it draws not its life from human organizations; rather is it the crumbling away of material elements from reason, the translation of law back to its original language,—Mind, and the final unity between man and God." The People's Idea of God, p. 1;

Divine unity, in which Mind and its ideas are bound as one, is the spiritual truth about mortal disunity. Christ Jesus prayed for his disciples, "Father, ... that they may be one." John 17:11; Real unity can be built on the basis that there is one Mind. The belief that there is more than one Mind is pagan, for Mind is God and there is but one God. The admission of many minds concedes the possibility of disunity. But divinely fortified relationships are mutually helpful and durable.
