SPIRITUALIZING THOUGHT
through reflecting the qualities of God's motherhood
It is possible, it is even an obligation and a divine right, for each individual to live and work in harmony with others.
This means to live in peace. To live caring enough for others to promote affection and goodwill and true love by example. To live feeling so deeply the bliss of divine Love's power and presence that wherever one goes, selfish traits, frustrated, lonely, self-righteous, spiritually impoverished ways of behavior, demanding mankind's submission, tend to dissolve. It is to live, whether with others or alone, rejoicing in the inspiration, strength, and immortality of Soul. To live in the consciousness of well-being in God that is firm and unswerving in the face of any suggestion—of frailty, illness, inharmonious personal relationships, lack of opportunity or intelligence or supply.
Maybe you're saying, "Great! But aren't we being too idealistic in considering goals that seem out of reach for many in today's world?" Maybe it seems to be an idealistic approach, but nevertheless it is a practical one because divine Love supports it. In her sermon The People's Idea of God Mrs. Eddy says, "Every step of progress is a step more spiritual." Peo., p. 1; We can prove this and find a progressively harmonious life through the study of Christian Science.
