Human Relationships: Do They Bless?
Most of us value lasting human relationships. They enrich our lives and provide opportunities for the expression of affection, loyalty, thoughtfulness, joy, and other desirable qualities. But sometimes relationships go sour. Trusted friends may turn against us or just drift away. Then we find that our companionships are not the dependable source of happiness we had hoped for and expected.
Many people have at some time been disappointed in their relationships with others. Such occasions can be opportunities for growth if we turn to God and learn more of our unchanging relationship to Him. Comfort and healing can always be found through prayer, for the Christ is ever with us. Christ Jesus said, "I will not leave you comfortless." John 14:18;
To material sense, a relationship may seem to be too intense and emotional or too cold and uncaring. Or it may include elements of envy, jealousy, possessiveness, competition, or oppression that become intolerable. These are all states of mortal mind—or material sense—and are totally erroneous. The truth is that spiritually based relationships are always divinely controlled and mutually beneficial.
