Undiminishing Strength and Vitality
Each time I sank the pick into the hard ground I thanked God for His goodness and strength. I had a foundation footing to dig in four days. To some this wouldn't have been difficult, but in my circumstances it at first looked completely beyond my capability.
A few months previous I had retired from a managerial career, and we had just moved from sea level to our new home in the mountains at an altitude of forty-two hundred feet. An addition to the house was urgently needed before winter, making the timing quite critical. Since no help was available, I had no choice but to dig the footing myself. To top it all off, we were in the middle of a record hot spell.
