Timeless Vitality

Some people are greatly comforted to think of God as caring for them at every phase of their human existence—in childhood, maturity, and old age. And certainly the divine Father always does take care of all His offspring. Mrs. Eddy writes, "The divine Mind that made man maintains His own image and likeness." Science and Health, p. 151; The understanding of this spiritual fact has a vitalizing effect on the human mind and body. It develops the strength and good qualities of those who seem to be immature. And it refreshes, reenergizes, and revivifies those who seem to have become exhausted.

But in metaphysics, man, the image and likeness of God, is never at any time an immature infant. He is not a well-developed corporeal being in the prime of material existence. Nor is he a mentally and physically declining mortal. The real man does not begin as a helpless child, then grow through stages to become strong and effective, afterwards to decline into a second phase of helplessness.
