During the depression years my husband, as a superintendent of a large construction company, was laid off. The situation seemed very difficult as work in his line was practically nil.
The help of a Christian Science practitioner was sought, and she assured me, "I know God is caring for you." And He certainly was. Despite seeming lack of jobs, my husband found work of a temporary nature that met our needs. It proved to us that we are under God's direction, since there was a definite need for us to be in my parents' home at that time, and I have always been grateful that we were free to be there.
Mrs. Eddy writes in the textbook, Science and Health (p. 444), "Step by step will those who trust Him find that 'God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.'"
