I grew up in a home with a loving mother who taught me the Lord's Prayer at an early age. I depended upon it when the going seemed rough. One time when I had a sore throat, it was painful to eat. My mother said that I must eat and told me to say the Lord's Prayer before eating. I did with my whole heart. While eating a piece of toast, an abscess broke in my throat, and that brought my problem to an end. Trust in prayer was the answer for me.

Years later when I was seeking a church home where I could really learn about God, I spoke to my husband about this, just after attending a church service which did not meet my need. My husband told me about one time when he had attended a service in a Church of Christ, Scientist, and as he put it, they talked only about God. The next Wednesday evening we attended a Christian Science testimony meeting, and I was so impressed that I couldn't wait for Sunday to come so that I might attend a Sunday service and learn more of God. This I did, and I have been learning more of God ever since through daily study of the two textbooks, the Bible, and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, as well as her other writings.

My first healing in Science came very soon afterward. I had been bothered by indigestion for years and had suffered great pain. I found little relief from medicines. A friend told me about the healing she had had through the prayers of a Christian Science practitioner. Shortly after this I had such a severe attack of indigestion that I fainted. My son phoned the same practitioner, who came immediately to my home. Christian Science prayerful treatment was given, and I was healed immediately. I was told that I could eat any food I desired without difficulty or suffering. I accepted this news with joy, and am thankful that the practitioner's predictions proved to be true. All of this took place thirtyfive years ago. The healing has been permanent and complete.
