Courtenay's New Baby-sitter

Courtenay let out a big wail. Her mother was leaving for the beauty shop—and leaving her alone in this strange apartment with a strange lady, called Dixie, her new babysitter.

Courtenay was three years old, and her mother usually took her every place she went. Sometimes she left her with Michael's mother next door. Courtenay liked staying there because Michael was her friend, and was her own age. They had fun playing together. Besides, Courtenay was used to Michael's mother. But this Dixie was a strange new face and a strange new voice. Courtenay didn't like what she didn't know.

Dixie handed her a coloring book and some crayons to color with. "God is good and right here with you and me," she told Courtenay.
