The Parent You Can Count On
In times of trouble adults and children have a divine, ever-present Parent to turn to. He never lets us down. He loves us. He understands us. He protects us. And it is impossible to find ourselves in a predicament He doesn't already have an answer for.
Ours is the same all-knowing Father-Mother God who guided Moses and the children of Israel safely out of bondage and who, through Jesus, showed mankind how to heal the sick and reform the sinner by relying on a spiritual understanding of the heavenly Father of us all. The Bible makes clear that God is "a very present help in trouble." Ps. 46:1;
With the spiritual light Christian Science throws on the Scriptures, we are able to expand our concept of Deity. We can recognize God as infinite, all-seeing Love, which expresses the attributes of a Mother as well as of an omnipotent Father. And we can safely rely on Him at all times. In Science and Health Mary Baker Eddy says, "Father-Mother is the name for Deity, which indicates His tender relationship to His spiritual creation." Science and Health, p. 332;
