I had the privilege of growing up in a home where Christian Science was loved and practiced. I attended a Christian Science Sunday School from a very early age and through the encouragement and help of relatives and Christian Science practitioners had many proofs of the healing truths taught there.

We learn in Science we are never beyond God's care and healing presence. This was proved to me in the following experience.

I joined a group of young people on an expedition traveling through Morocco and down to the fringe of the Sahara Desert. On the third day out I began to experience pain in my chest and became very fearful. There was no way of obtaining immediate help from a practitioner in Christian Science, and the expedition was each day moving into remoter areas. During the next two days the condition grew steadily worse, and it became very difficult for me to conceal the problem. Although I had been trying to pray in Science, I seemed unable to break the fear, and I felt that in fairness to the other members of the group I must shortly tell them of my difficulty, as we were now at least three days' traveling time from any town. I resolved to do this the next morning if I felt no better.
