Love for the Brother We See
How can long-standing resentment or hatred of someone be overcome?
One woman found an answer that served to illumine for her the searching Bible query, "If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?" I John 4:20;
This woman suddenly had an individual many years her junior placed in authority over her at her office. His experience in their highly specialized work was far less than hers. She had, in fact, helped to train this young man. Considering him far from ready for the job, she resented his sudden and, to her sense, unearned authority. Now not only did she have to take orders from him but also at times had to endure what seemed his inexcusable rudeness, caused in part by the extreme pressure under which they worked.
