[Ability to demonstrate Christian Science comes with study and practice of the truth taught by Christ Jesus and revealed in Science and Health. This series touches upon some ways in which this truth can be applied.]
Healing through love of God
The power to heal is embodied in our love for the Supreme Being, God. God is Love, and He expresses Himself in love. The love we express for Him is His love reflected. We do not originate love, but we can become conscious of it and consciously reflect it.
Many who are in need of healing believe they love God. Their healing will come as their love for God becomes genuine and selfless. If we love God because of what we hope He will give us, we are really loving ourselves more. But if we love Him because of what He is, we forget ourselves. Then the love is true and has the power that eliminates whatever is not of God. God is the only real Life. Man is the idea or expression of that Life. Disease of any kind denies this. It is a claim that man is material and subject to material health laws. When we love Life, we rebel against any claim that there are laws of health other than those decreed by divine Life, divine Love.
Because man actually is Life's, Love's, idea, our rebellion against disease—when based on our love for God—has authority. It has power. God, Life, Love, is All. His ideas include only what expresses perfect Life and perfect Love. We, in reality, are His ideas. Real love for Him identifies us with Him as His ideas. It gives us the right to claim for ourselves and others the health that belongs to man.
