Mrs. Eddy tells us that "the song of Christian Science is, 'Work—work—work—watch and pray'" (Message to The Mother Church for 1900, p. 2). We think of a song as being joyous, and work in Christian Science is indeed a joy. There is no more joyful work than to witness to the goodness of God. Prayerful work rightly done is always rewarding, and results in peace, health, and supply.

I have had many proofs of the rewards of this work, such as physical healings of many kinds for myself and our children, our needs have been supplied, and harmony has been established in human relationships.

Two physical healings required much spiritual right thinking and knowing. In each case I had the prayerful help of a consecrated Christian Science practitioner. Several years ago I had ivy poisoning. The truth that helped me most was the passage from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 249): "Let us feel the divine energy of Spirit, bringing us into newness of life and recognizing no mortal nor material power as able to destroy." Every time I felt discomfort I would pray to know that there was no power to prevent me from feeling the "divine energy" which would bring me "into newness of life." My hands and a great deal of my body were covered with the infection. I was told to study the definition of "oil" in Science and Health which reads (p. 592): "Consecration; charity; gentleness; prayer; heavenly inspiration." After I held to these truths and put them into practice to the best of my ability, all the symptoms of ivy poisoning yielded.
