I write this with much love and gratitude for my parents, and in the hope that it may comfort other parents whose children have strayed from Christian Science.

I attended a Christian Science Sunday School all my life, became a Mother Church member, and had many healings. But during high school I began to drift away from Christian Science, and in college shunned it completely. I found it much easier to believe in popular opinions and became mesmerized by the seeming attractions of hallucinogenic drugs and sensual living. I was never really happy with the way I was living, but I thought that through drugs or human relationship I would someday find contentment.

Through these several recent years of confused living, my parents prayed for me daily. They never prayed for the evil to depart from me but knew evil never was part of me and I was completely above all these false suggestions. They impersonalized the evil and affirmed my being as free and lovely, immune to animal magnetism.
