Since my testimony in The Christian Science Journal of 1934, I have had many more proofs of God's protection and care, not only for myself but for my family.

When my boys were young, they had healings of so-called children's diseases such as measles and scarlet fever through our reliance on God's healing power. My younger son had a healing of stuttering and of an eye condition an oculist said was incurable. While in grade school, he injured one elbow. An X ray showed that the tip of his elbow was crushed. The doctor's verdict was that he would never be able to raise his arm above his shoulder. Through prayerful work in Christian Science this medical prediction was reversed, and his arm was healed and in perfect condition. He never had any difficulty using it in later years in playing ball, tennis, or in other normal activities. Both boys were Sunday School students, and the healings were brought about solely through Christian Science treatment.

When the boys were ten and twelve, I was left to bring them up alone. Upon arriving in a large city I found that there were many drawbacks to finding work. However, I clung tenaciously to the truths of Christian Science that each one of us is tenderly held in the love of God, that we are the children of His care. I knew that as an idea in Mind I could not be out of work, for each of God's ideas is always divinely employed. Any belief of lack is a belief of separation from God, and I knew that supply was as much a part of my life and that of the children as was life itself, health, and joy.
