LISTEN and OBEY
Samuel was a famous and very good man who a long time ago lived in the country called Israel. I Sam. 3;
When Samuel was quite little, he went to stay at the temple of the Lord, where he learned how to serve God. He also learned to listen and obey orders. He was very good at this. The priest's sons who were also working at the temple did not obey God. They were also disrespectful to those who came to worship God. They were covetous and greedy. And if they did not get what they wanted by asking, they took it by force.
Eli, the priest, loved Samuel because the boy was so good and obedient, and he treated him as a beloved son.
