[Ability to demonstrate Christian Science comes with study and practice of the truth taught by Christ Jesus and revealed in Science and Health. This series touches upon some ways in which this truth can be applied.]
Healing by understanding the true sense of feeling
A feeling of disease in the body can be proved to be an illusion. It really is externalized mental discord, and can be destroyed by the inspiration of spiritual sense. The vivid realization that man is the reflected image of God, the perfect All-Mind, fills thought with peace and harmony. It blots out discomfort.
Because God is All, He knows and feels only the goodness and concord of His own spiritual substance and intelligence. The ever-living, ever-conscious I am individualizes the comfort of true sensation—His love, peace, joy—in all men everywhere.
This scientific unity of God and man is the basis on which we can take our stand and destroy feelings of impatience, resentment, malice, melancholy. These are mental enemies—diseased thoughts— that are wiped out as we feel and express the love-related qualities of gratitude, humility, compassion, unselfishness. They lift us into the atmosphere of divine Mind, into a healing glimpse of the bliss of spiritual sensation.
