Christian Science and the Theater
Harold Hobson is one of England's most distinguished theater critics. It is a mark of the high esteem in which he is held in his profession and his nation that Queen Elizabeth II has appointed him a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE). Since early in the 1930's, he has written on theater from London for The Christian Science Monitor.
What is best and worst in today's theater?
The best is the desire to bring the theater into a living contact with the problems people are facing today. The worst is a feeling of intolerance, an inbuilt conviction held by many in theater that whoever opposes them or disagrees with them is necessarily evil.
