Christian Science was introduced to our family about 1904. My sister was healed of an internal growth. This so impressed her that she was constantly praising Christian Science. I became interested but still had some doubts as to its healing efficacy since we were surrounded by the thought of material medicine. But I purchased a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy and read it, and with the encouragement of my sister I became a member of the Church of Christ, Scientist, along with other members of our family.

Christian Science helped us to handle our problems and to gain a better understanding of God and of Christ Jesus' healing ministry. My sister became a practitioner and was listed in The Christian Science Journal for over forty years. I have depended on Science for all my needs for over fifty years.

Our textbooks, the King James Bible and Science and Health, contain the truths which enable us to demonstrate the unreality of discord of every nature. I have had several physical healings, all of which I consider to be outstanding. One in recent years was the healing of a very painful condition called shingles. I had great difficulty in lying down, sitting down, or sleeping. It seemed difficult for me to separate in my thought the concept of a mortal from the spiritual and immortal man, so I called a Christian Science practitioner for help through prayer. After I had poured the truth of my spiritual nature, which cannot be defiled, into thought for several days, the unreality of the physical disorder was proved, and I was free again.
