Ahaz (Isa. 7:10)
A king of Judah in the second half of the eighth century B.C. He was remembered for his idolatrous practices, borrowed from Assyria. Besieged by his neighbors, the kings of Syria and Northern Isreal, Ahaz looked to Assyria for help, against the advice of the prophet Isaiah, who urged him to be still and trust God (see II Kings 16; Isa. 7:1–9).
Ask thee a sign of the Lord thy God (Isa. 7:11)
