It has been about thirteen years since I was introduced to Christian Science through a young lady who about a year later became my wife. At that time she was not a strong student of Christian Science, and together we visited and worked with several different denominations in an attempt to find one that met our needs. As little by little I began to understand it, Christian Science began to fill the void and answer the questions that had not received answers through my previous church affiliation.

A crisis with our young son brought me to the realization that the fence–sitting would have to stop. If I was to benefit at all from what I had learned of God, I would have to turn wholeheartedly to Him for all my needs. My son had developed a rash that gradually grew worse. It was impossible to keep him from scratching, and this increased the problem when infection set in. Upon insistence from my family and my feeling of guilt for not doing anything material for my son, I decided to take him to a doctor.

The appointment was kept and the examination was made. Medicine was prescribed and another visit set. I went to the drugstore the doctor had called and picked up the medicine. On the way home I decided that I should accept God as the only physician. The medicine was never used.
