TAKEOFF

O perfect One to whom our prayers ascend,
We ask Thee not for any earthly thing.
Nor do we question what will be our end,
Nor shall we spend our time imagining.
But these we do ask for each day:
Grace, as we ascend the sky,
Courage, as we climb beyond the clouds,
Skill, as we don wings to fly.
For these are wonders birdmen seek;
No earthly wonders make us stand in awe.
We need to feel the slipstream on our cheek;
We need to feel the working of Thy law.
