Right Relationships Are in Mind

A good, positive mental approach toward others is recognized today as essential in establishing right relationships. However, the revelation of Christian Science goes much further than this. It teaches one how to gain and hold a correct mental outlook spiritually and scientifically.

To relate effectively to another in Science, we need to see beyond what seems to be a finite mortal who has unpleasant traits and a self-centered mentality. Spiritual understanding enables us to perceive that each individual is a perfect, spiritual identity, and that all identities are harmoniously related to one another in the one divine Mind, or God.

The commonly held belief in the existence of both good and evil would make it appear that we must accept good minds and bad minds in those around us. This supposition is countered by the scientific truth that since all men in their true being are spiritual they can express only God's goodness. Paul knew the fact of the spiritual nature of man and his life in God. When he addressed the Athenians on Mars' Hill, he declared that "they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: for in him we live, and move, and have our being." Acts 17:27, 28;
