Are We Seeing Man Correctly?

The American humorist Will Rogers said, "I never met a man I didn't like." This genial individual must have glimpsed something of the wonderful spiritual truth that one's real individuality is likable, really lovable. And he translated it into human action, into a rich, warm, humorous affection for mankind.

Our great Master, Christ Jesus, loved mankind with the love that heals. When he saw the need to rebuke or correct some of them, he did so, but his spiritual, Christly love for them blessed and healed those who were receptive to the truth he taught; and he left to the world the legacy of pure Christianity. He saw that mankind need to express love toward one another, even if at times, in human experience, they have to uncover evil and protect themselves and others from it. Thus he declared, "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." John 13:34;

Mrs. Eddy was an earnest follower of the Master. She loved and appreciated the Christ, Truth, he demonstrated. And she lived his teachings in her daily life. Through her writings she reveals to mankind that, whatever the material senses testify, man, our true, loving, lovable, and beloved individuality dwells in God's tender and beneficent allness. Of this celestial relationship between God and man she writes: "Immortal man was and is God's image or idea, even the infinite expression of infinite Mind, and immortal man is coexistent and coeternal with that Mind. He has been forever in the eternal Mind, God." Science and Health, p. 336;
