In the Manual of The Mother Church Mrs. Eddy writes, "Gratitude and love should abide in every heart each day of all the years" (Art. XVII, Sect. 2). It is truly with a heart full of gratitude and love that I offer this testimony.

For almost twenty-five years Christian Science has been the way of Life for me. I count as one of my most precious blessings the years spent as a pupil in the Christian Science Sunday School. I also treasure my membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church and the inspiring experience of class instruction in Christian Science from a devoted and consecrated teacher.

A few years ago a lump appeared in my body. At first much fear engulfed my thinking, making it difficult for me to pray and reason scientifically, as we are taught to do in Christian Science. In an effort to demonstrate and prove what I know of God and of man's relationship to Him, I held firmly to this passage from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 463): "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive." Another passage also strengthened me (ibid., p. 4): "What we most need is the prayer of fervent desire for growth in grace, expressed in patience, meekness, love, and good deeds." I prayed almost constantly to eliminate my belief in the reality of a false growth. In less than a week the lump dissolved, and the healing has been permanent.
