God Heals

The divine Mind heals quickly. The human mind may take a long time to gain the truth and experience a healing. In either case it is the divine Mind, God, that heals, but when the human mind attempts to understand the divine and is not quite ready to yield its false concepts to it, there is often a struggle. Sometimes there is no yielding, but only a shift in stance so that the mind of the individual seeking healing appears on the surface to have yielded, but its underlying resistance to the divine Mind remains as solid as before.

Christian Science shows us how to overcome the resistance and to experience God's healing power. But the method of healing in Christian Science is much more than a series of steps for the human mind. It is a whole regeneration of the self, a rebirth, a new beginning for every thought, feeling, sensation, attitude, viewpoint. It is entrance here and now into the kingdom of the divine Mind, according to the rule given us by Christ Jesus: "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." John 3:3;

Jesus explained, "That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit." v. 6; When the individual who thinks of himself as born of the flesh becomes ill and seeks spiritual healing, he has begun to turn away from the flesh. If he has not found Christian Science, his search for healing may lead him to methods that exercise the human mind in positive rather than negative ways. Some reference may be made to the fact that God speaks to us through positive thoughts. And because some positive thoughts express God's qualities, such thinking often brings positive results. But we still have a fleshly mortal hoping for God's intervention in this mortal life.
