It has been eleven years since my last testimony of appreciation and gratitude for God's love appeared in the Sentinel.
Several years prior to that I found myself searching for a better understanding of God and also needing to search my own thought. This search for God led to my becoming acquainted with Christian Science. As I made a dedicated study of all Mary Baker Eddy's writings, as well as of the Christian Science periodicals, I was led to search my own thought to see who I was, why I was here, and what I was doing. This was a beautiful search, and out of it came many blessings.
In Miscellaneous Writings, in an article entitled "The Way," Mrs. Eddy writes of three stages of mental growth (see p. 355). The first one of these is self-knowledge; the second, humility; the third, love. During this period of search, one of the great treasures that became mine was the ability to break the gambling habit.
