Helping to Heal the Skyjacking Problem
Earnest students of Christian Science are concerned citizens par excellence. They aren't just mildly interested in what goes on around them. They don't casually scan the news and let it go at that. The potency of scientific prayer has been proven in their lives, and the love in their hearts impels them to utilize their knowledge of spiritual power for the good of all.
A student of this Science attacks with spiritual understanding negative national and world conditions just as he would do in the conquest of sickness. He recognizes the mortally mental nature of all material phenomena, and is confident that they can be altered and improved as the true nature of God and His creation is understood and prayerfully affirmed. Mrs. Eddy tells us, "Christian Science acts as an alterative, neutralizing error with Truth." Science and Health, p. 162 And further on she states, "The effect of this Science is to stir the human mind to a change of base, on which it may yield to the harmony of the divine Mind."
One phase of evil that needs correction is the rash of skyjacking incidents that have occurred in recent months. Dozens of commercial flights have been interrupted, causing much anxiety, inconvenience, and unnecessary expense. What can we do to stop it? Most of us are not trained to act as armed guards on these flights, but the study of Christian Science can teach us to guard our thought when reports of these occurrences reach us. We can reject them as aggressive mental suggestions, and see in their place the wisdom and control of God, divine Principle, the one all-knowing Mind.
