My mental condition when Christian Science found me was one of great need. I was suffering from a succession of boils, sties, and athlete's foot. I was miserable physically and embarrassed and disgusted by my appearance. My business required constant traveling from coast to coast and this added tension to the inner turmoil. While I was under the care of a medical physician, the condition worsened progressively.

Discouragement with this state of affairs helped me to be willing to turn to Christian Science. I called a Christian Science practitioner to treat me through prayer. Under Christian Science treatment and study I learned to exchange my materialistic concept of myself and others for the spiritual idea of man as the child of God. As my thought yielded to this spiritual sense of things, the diseased condition also faded. Impatience, frustration, and disgust disappeared from my consciousness, and I was healed. Smoking and social drinking left me without a struggle as I saw myself spiritually as the satisfied child of God.

All the days of the twenty years that have followed these first healings have been periods of growth in the understanding of Christian Science. I think of Mrs. Eddy with reverence for her faithfulness in following through on her discovery of Christian Science— the truth Christ Jesus lived and taught. And I am grateful that throughout the world it is healing all who turn to it.
