Don't Water the Plastic Petunia
What appears to be the devil or evil is never more delighted than when it succeeds in making us accept a discordant material condition as real or as belonging to a particular person.
In Christian Science we learn that when we persist in thinking of any false trait or disease as belonging to an individual, we are strengthening a wholly false concept. We make it real to ourselves and perpetuate its ill effect.
A Christian Science practitioner was given a plastic petunia, which she placed on her windowsill. This petunia was so attractive and looked so natural that many visitors would walk over to it and exclaim, "Oh, how pretty! It is real, isn't it?"
