Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual (I Cor. 2:13)

The Greek word rendered "compare" can also be translated "combine," or sometimes "interpret." Moffatt has: "And this is what we discuss, using language taught by no human wisdom but by the Spirit. We interpret what is spiritual in spiritual language."

That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past (Eccl. 3:15)
