I am very grateful to have attended a Christian Science Sunday School from the ages of three to twenty. As a result of the prayerful work and instruction of many devoted Sunday School teachers and the application of Science in the home by my parents, I experienced many healings and have been able to demonstrate the truths of Christian Science for myself and my family.

In spite of this teaching, as a child I was always shy. During my high school years this progressed into an extreme feeling of inferiority. It was a very difficult period, filled with much unhappiness. One evening, during my sophomore year in college, I attended a Christian Science lecture. The subject was, "God Is Love," and I left with an entirely new concept. From that moment on I clung to the idea that Love did not depend upon people, that whether I was alone or in a crowd, talking to a friend or a group, Love was constant and unchanging. As we went through an area of very dense clouds, the pilot lost control and we started to dive toward the ground. The speed and pressure forced us all against the back of our seats. Turning to God, I remained at peace and again realized that God's unchanging love was surrounding us, not the fuselage of a plane. The words of Hymn No. 53 filled my thought:
