Are People in the Way?

In the crowded bus a small boy saw the main stop approaching and started struggling to get to the door. As he struck out in frustration against the people around him, his father stopped him. "Hold on, Son," he said. "These people want to get out, too." And in a few moments the boy, his father, and the people who had seemed a barrier were moving toward the exit door together.

Sometimes it seems as if we are flooded into anonymity by the crowd or oppressed by individuals in it. We think we must shove them aside to get anywhere. When we think like this, we are not only spoiling our own peace but contributing to a perverted world concept that claims to harm everyone.
