You Have an Ark

Various news media daily present us with a frightful assortment of perils. To guard against every conceivable harm with material means is impossible. The only answer is to rely on a higher power. God, who is omnipotent, ever-present Love, is able and willing to care for us at all times.

Many people know about Noah and his ark. Fewer appreciate the current significance of that Biblical story. With dangers such as wars, riots, hijackings, bomb threats, accidents, pollution, famine, germs, storms, threatening human safety, mankind certainly need a sanctuary. Christian Science teaches that they have one. They have an ever-present ark, for the understanding of God's omnipresence is an everlasting protection to His creation.

In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy defines "ark" as "safety; the idea, or reflection, of Truth, proved to be as immortal as its Principle; the understanding of Spirit, destroying belief in matter." She continues, "God and man coexistent and eternal; Science showing that the spiritual realities of all things are created by Him and exist forever." Science and Health, p. 581;
