FROM THE CROSS
With what
love
must Jesus have
looked down upon
John—
faithful in
shame as
he had been
in glory. The only one
left of the
twelve.
Had not Jesus said,
"All ye shall be
offended because of me
this night:
for it is written, I
will smite the shepherd,
and the sheep of the flock
shall be scattered abroad"?
But, here.
This one
remained
steadfast,
unshaken,
his love
casting out
his great fear.
And Jesus
looking down
made John
own brother
in earth as
in heaven.
