Christian Science came into my experience twelve years ago when as a stranger in the country in an isolated place, tormented with fear, disappointment, and bodily suffering, I kneeled and prayed, "Dear God, take my life," and then crawled into bed to die. I had received no relief from medical science. To my amazement I slept in peace, awaking with joy and a feeling of complete harmony. It seemed heavenly. However, I was puzzled because nothing had changed in my environment. God, I believed, gave life and took it away in death. He now proved to me that He did not desire death, as the Bible states (Ezek. 18:32): "For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord God: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye." Now I prayed, "Dear God, give me the whole truth and nothing but the truth."

I turned on my television set the next morning. "How Christian Science Heals," The Mother Church program of that time, was being broadcast. Two women were relating their healings in Christian Science. I realized that if Christian Science could heal them it could heal me. My prayer was answered, for I was soon restored to health. I realized that God, not material remedies, was the only healer. At the time this wonderful news came I had never heard of Christian Science healing before, so I sent for the booklet "How Prayer Can Help You," mentioned on the program. With it I received two Christian Science Sentinels. This was my first introduction to the real God, the God of Love. As I read and accepted the truths contained in these periodicals, I was completely healed of stomach trouble and all reliance on material remedies. I had owned the King James Version of the Bible for many years, but was unable to gain the understanding I desired until I purchased Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. While reading this book, I caught a clear glimpse of the spiritual nature of Christ Jesus' teachings, which before I had not understood, and gained peace of mind and body. Science and Health proved to be the key to the Scriptures.

My family and I have experienced healings of bee stings, burns, cuts, colds, and other injuries. So-called children's diseases and undiagnosed illnesses having alarming symptoms have been healed. Some were healed quickly; others more slowly. Each healing left us with a better understanding of God, good, and His love for all mankind.
