In the Bible, in the book of Genesis, we read the story of Noah's building of the ark. Noah was responding to God's guidance, for this building was done before the conditions arose that required the use of the ark. When the floods came, Noah and his family, and the animals he took into the ark, were protected and they survived.

In the Glossary of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, we read her definition of "ark" as follows (p. 581):

"Safety; the idea, or reflection, of Truth, proved to be as immortal as its Principle; the understanding of Spirit, destroying belief in matter.
