Helping to "hold crime in check"

Most Christian Scientists are not law enforcement agents in the ordinary sense. But they are concerned citizens and therefore anxious to do their part in stemming the ever-growing tide of crime.

Students of this Science understand something of a healing Principle that has been successfully applied to human problems small and great. Applied with inspiration and persistence, this Principle can be utilized successfully in healing the human mind of lawless tendencies, just as it has in destroying the evil thoughts that eventuate in disease, despondency, and lack.

The problem when viewed en masse may seem complex and overwhelming. But the experienced Christian Scientist will not be fooled by this appearance. He has proven in a degree that evil in every form or size is actually a hypnotic illusion seemingly hiding the perfect spiritual universe of God, divine Mind or Love. He has seen evil in the form of sin, disease, or other inharmony disappear from his individual experience as it has been faced as an illusion, denied, and the harmonious facts of spiritual being affirmed as a present fact. The canker of crime can be healed, too, if enough spiritual thinkers pray from the standpoint of divine Mind's allness —and pray every day.
