"But there is no mortal mind"

Is the world made up of independent mortals having material minds of their own, lacking any certain relationship to a cohesive force that harmonizes and orders its creation? The answer of Christian Science to this question is an emphatic No. This Science reveals that God is in complete control of all, that He is the divine Mind, the only real governing power, the Mind of all His children.

Mortal mind, the counterfeit of divine Mind, is a belief of intelligence and life in matter. Its mortal, limited view of creation tends to restrict or confuse our activity. If we would have less conflict in our human affairs, we must learn to recognize that God, the divine Mind, is the only Mind there is, and the only governing power in our lives. We should learn to listen to divine Mind and let it lead us.

Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, says in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures: "Mortal mind is a solecism in language, and involves an improper use of the word mind. As Mind is immortal, the phrase mortal mind implies something untrue and therefore unreal; and as the phrase is used in teaching Christian Science, it is meant to designate that which has no real existence."^{ Science and Health, p. 114;}
