"He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone" (Ps. 91:11, 12). I would like to tell briefly how these words were proven to me in a very real way some time ago.

During the time when I was completing basic training in the Army, I apparently turned my ankle very sharply, for it became swollen and very painful. Although I attempted occasionally to apply various truths of Christian Science to the situation, there was no improvement. The pace of physical training was then increasing, and I became quite handicapped and very discouraged. With the final physical test drawing near, something had to be done.

Mrs. Eddy tells us in Science and Health (p. 15), "In the quiet sanctuary of earnest longings, we must deny sin and plead God's allness." So, early one morning I left the company area to find a quiet place and there reached out to God for healing. I knew that divine Mind's harmonious government is all-powerful in every situation and that God as Soul precluded any painful sense or condition in man, His image and likeness. I had spent a few moments with these truths when the call to reassemble came. I got up and not only walked away but ran, completely healed. Never again did I experience any difficulty in walking or running.
