We Are "sons of God"
One of the Bible statements best known and loved by students of Christian Science is from the First Epistle of John: "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God." I John 3:1; This declaration implies that we all can expect a rich spiritual inheritance from the Father, infinite Mind. Yet when it first comes to the attention of men and women, it often seems not only a doubtful promise but even a ludicrous one—to think that anyone could apply it to himself!
The average person is keenly aware of faults and shortcomings in his human character. He feels that honesty forbids him to claim to be the son of God because this would imply a state of immortal perfection and blessedness which, humanly, is far from evident.
