Over a year ago because of grief and shock at the passing of a beloved sister, I went through a mental and nervous breakdown. Due to its severity, a friend who is a consecrated Christian Science practitioner took me into her home for three weeks and gave me prayerful treatment in the truth. Through her help I was able to go to my home at the end of that period, then go back to work a few days a week, and eventually full time. I was also able to continue in branch church activity, which in turn brought about a greater love and appreciation for this work. With intermittent help from this practitioner for approximately a year I was completely healed.

At times it took all my strength to realize that God is the only Mind, and that I was the child of His care. This enabled me not to show the confusion that tried to undermine me. Even though I had studied Christian Science for a number of years, there had never been a time when my faith in God was tested to this extent. I gratefully acknowledge the growth in spiritual understanding that was required of me before my complete healing was brought about.

Mrs. Eddy states in the textbook, Science and Health (p. 167), "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized." The temptation to take sleeping pills due to the fact that I had little sleep for weeks was so great that at different times I had to call the practitioner two or three times a day.
