Where Can We Think?

Early in my experience a Christian Scientist said to me, "You have dominion." Being skeptical, I exclaimed, "I have dominion! Where is it?" The answer was, "In your thought, and that is where you must exercise it. If you can't lift your finger, claim your God–given dominion!"

Here was the answer as to where I could think and exercise dominion. We overcome limitation and defeat erroneous suggestions in our own consciousness. We cannot do so in the thought of another. These questions arise: "What really is external to our thought? Are we dealing with people or conditions 'out there'?" Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, thus succinctly gives us the answer in Unity of Good: "Everything is as real as you make it, and no more so. What you see, hear, feel, is a mode of consciousness, and can have no other reality than the sense you entertain of it."Un., p. 8;

Divine Mind's thoughts never get outside Deity Himself. All divine Mind has, great as it is, is its ideas. But they are always contained within that Mind, for it is all–inclusive, infinite. Mortal mind, being the counterfeit of divine Mind, likewise can have only its thoughts. And they are always within itself. Even in the realm of human thought all that we deal with that appears "over there" is our concept of it, which really is here, within our own thought.
