I want to express gratitude for Christian Science, and for Mrs. Eddy, who gave us this beautiful truth. It has changed my entire concept of life. Long before I took up the study or became an earnest student, this Science had touched my life many times through acquaintances.

While I was actively serving in an orthodox church, I had a serious kidney ailment. The attending physician said I would have to take medication the rest of my life. A loyal friend who was an active student of Christian Science visited me regularly at the hospital and asked if she could take me to her home when I was released from the hospital. While I was in her home, she asked me to read a copy of The Christian Science Journal aloud to her while she baked a cake. Not really knowing what this periodical was, I agreed, as I was grateful for her kindness toward me and wanted to reciprocate. All I can remember is that I thought the articles I read contained ideas that I could accept. The statements relating to God seemed reasonable to me.

Later my husband took me to our home, and I began to feel better, my temperature abated, and I never returned to the doctor for treatment of this ailment. Later it was necessary for me to take a physical examination in conjunction with employment, and there was no trace of the kidney trouble—none of the physical symptoms for which the doctor had said I would need to take medication the rest of my life. Not until years later, when I began to study Christian Science, did I recognize that this healing had come through the glimpse of Christian Science I had gained in reading the Journal.
