The Christ Controls Our Experience

Through an understanding of Christian Science we learn that Christ is Truth, the indestructible idea of God. As we pray to know the ever-presence of Christ, God's spiritual idea, it controls our experience. Our awareness of what is always good and true increases. And our ability to yield to Christ brings our thinking into conformity with it and lets it govern our thoughts, feelings, and actions. In the proportion that we perceive Christ, Truth, we are enabled to demonstrate it.

Christ Jesus, the great Exemplar, demonstrated Christ to the highest degree, even to the overcoming of death itself. He so yielded to the Christ that it completely controlled him and therefore his experience. Through his resurrection and ascension he proved that his true being was always the God-idea, the indestructible Christ-man, the deathless spiritual man of God's creating. Speaking of his forever, divine identity, he had declared, "Before Abraham was, I am." ^{John 8:58;}

Mary Baker Eddy let the true idea, the eternal Christ, so shine in her thought, and thus through her experience, that it led her step by step to the discovery of Christian Science and its healing power, the writing of its textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, and the founding of the Church of Christ, Scientist.
