Speaking of the gospel of Christ, the Apostle Paul writes in Galatians (1:12), "For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ." A healing is something human knowledge cannot teach us. This is done through our acceptance of Christ, Truth, which removes all error of false belief.

An occasion for accepting the Christ presented itself in the early years of my study of Christian Science. Our son, returning home from his paper delivery route, was struck by a car. He was thrown from his bicycle and was in a state of unconsciousness, suffering severe abrasions, concussion, and damage to his legs. Prior to this my husband and I were out shopping and had one more errand to attend to before our return home. However, a decision to go home had come about by mutual agreement.

Approaching the scene of the accident and not knowing what had occurred, we pulled over to allow an emergency vehicle the right-of-way. Through the opening of the already gathered crowd, we recognized that it was our son who needed help. As I started toward him, I paused and mentally rejected the false picture, seeing him not as my child but as God's idea held in Mind, not matter. I prayed, realizing that what appeared real to mortal sense had not happened to the real man, who is held perfect in divine Mind.
